Mike has experience in both trial and appellate matters. He has submitted briefs and argued cases in the Texas Supreme Court, several intermediate appellate courts, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and he has appeared and argued in dozens of trial courts across Texas.  Mike has analyzed legal and factual issues and has assisted in all phases of trial preparation for numerous complex disputes, in both state and federal court, in cases involving serious personal injury and death, contractual disputes, theft of trade secrets, insurance bad-faith claims, patent infringement, and federal tax indemnification. In 2010, Mike argued and won in the Texas Supreme Court in a case hailed as "revolutionary" with respect to the government's handling of human trafficking victims.  While at the court of appeals, he evaluated a wide variety of complex civil cases, analyzing procedural and substantive complaints, making recommendations to the judges, and drafting and editing opinions for consideration by the court.

He has also spoken at a variety of continuing education programs on such topics as preserving error, crafting the jury charge, and Texas insurance law.  Mike has earned selection to Thomson Reuters’ list of Texas Rising Stars (2004-2006, 2008-2010) in Appellate and General Litigation, as published in Texas Monthly. Mike is Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
